- At the 01.03.1996, hekr@oslonett.no (Henning Kristiansen) had nothing better to do,
- so he decided to talk about "Re: Any dates set for OctaMED S/S PC version":

- > Nope! the Roland S-760 has 24 channel polyphony not 32!
- > But i'm WERY happy with it and it's the numba 1 midi equipment i think!
-
- Besides the fact that VERY is spelled V.E.R.Y and NOT WERY...
-
- One should also think about the S2000. You can get it definitely for under
- $2000 !!! 32 polyphony, 16 Part multimode, Average-good low pass resonant
- filters, 2MB on board (Expandable to 32), SCSI-Interface on board,
- FX-Board as a ca. $500 upgrade, Expandable with 8 Separate outputs,
- A second filter bank, 16 MB FlashRom, GM-Wavetable and more...
-
- The used A/D/A Tec is the same as in the high end samplers S3000/S3200 !
-
- This machine has several advantages over the Roland:
-
- - Greater polyphony
- - Greater expandability
- - The Sxxxx Series is a definite Industrial Standard (Important when buying
- CDROMS...
- - The S2000 is CHEAPER (At least here in germany) (around $1700)
-
- The disadvantages:
-
- - The Roland has better synthesis (Out of the famous JV-Series...)
- * Better Filters (Lowpass/Bandpass/Highpass)
- * You can connect a monitor and a mouse for sample editing (by adding a
- special interface board: $300)
- * You have two separate Stereo Audio outs
- * Nice Equalizer functions on board (The fx-board of the S2k has a very
- nice EQ, too)
-
- Oh, BTW: The company is called AKAI... (Silly me...)
-
- so long,
